The village at the G. Big received its name from the word "sifoynizi = it blows as whirlwind", that in the limnian accent is heard sfniz', because in the region they are observed whirlwinds. Initially, at the G. Big, the name it should were Sfj'n', from where became Fisin and Fisini.

In the Ottoman domination the village was indeed named Fisini . Also his residents are even called today Sfnades. However at the Middle Ages (1321) they are reported, as patriarchical ' properties. This means that the name emanated from somebody of region where was named Vissinos. Thus it is not improbable the region
of Vissinoy named, Vsin, the Fsin that was the name on Ottoman domination (neutral). In this case the right i writing is Fisini and no Fysini. A lot of sightseers of JST' and JZ' of century mark in the region the village and castle Cogito. First him reports Italian Porcacchi in 1572, and rather him are copied the Piacenza, Dapper, Coronelli the period 1680-1690.
